Knowledge Platform Initiates Major E-Learning Program for Bank Mandiri Singapore

A consortium of three companies – Knowledge Platform, IntraLearn Asia Ltd (“IntraLearn”) and P.T. Mitra Integrasi Komputindo (“MIK”) – recently initiated the development and delivery of a major e-learning program for Bank Mandiri.  The three service providers were selected by Bank Mandiri after an exhaustive review of alternatives and detailed specification of their scope of work.

The entire program covers a comprehensive range of e-learning solutions including configurement and deployment of IntraLearn’s Learning Management System, provision by MIK of hardware, hosting, maintenance and customer support services and provision by Knowledge Platform of a range of instructional design and content solutions (with strong in-country support from MIK and project management and technology support from IntraLearn).

According to Mahboob Mahmood, CEO of Knowledge Platform, “Bank Mandiri is engaged in a transformative thrust to develop innovative new services for its customers and massively improve customer service quality.  To achieve these goals, the bank has identified upgrading of the competencies of its personnel and investment in enterprise-wide Management Information Systems as critical path items.

After a detailed assessment of human resource requirements, the bank decided to adopt e-learning as a central strategy in its initiative to transform the competencies of its widely dispersed work force of over 18,000 personnel.  As the largest bank in Indonesia formed through the merger of four constituent banks, e-learning will be used to create a consistent level of understanding and high competency levels in a relatively short time frame with substantial cost savings. As far as we are aware, Bank Mandiri’s e-learning program is the most comprehensive and large scale e-learning initiative undertaken by any of Asia’s 1,700 banks.”

Puja Anand, Chief Content Officer (Singapore) of Knowledge Platform and leader of the company’s team on this project, notes that “The program has been thoughtfully developed to not only create a large library of courses in banking operations, compliance and technology adoption, but also enhance the abilities of the training team and internal subject matter experts in providing next-generation learning solutions.”

“Our services include development of selected courses, development of instructional design templates and graphics pools, specification of standards and internal competency development.  The assignment is particularly important to us not only because of the comprehensive range of e-learning activation and development services we are being called to provide, but also because it demonstrates our ability to deploy an on-site “swat team” to support large-scale and fast-paced client objectives.”

Bank Mandiri is Indonesia’s largest bank in terms of assets, loans and deposits.  Bank Mandiri is also the most profitable bank in Indonesia and is one of the best capitalized banks in Asia. Through the efforts of its more that 18,000 employees, Bank Mandiri provides a full range of consumer, commercial and corporate banking services to more than 6 million corporate and individual customers as well as small and medium sized enterprises in Indonesia.

Established in 1998, in the aftermath of the 1997 Asian financial crisis, Bank Mandiri is the result of a merger of four state-owned banks. Since its establishment, Bank Mandiri has successfully turned around its financial position and its way of doing business to become the preferred bank in Indonesia.

From its inception, the bank has worked to create a strong, professional management team operating under internationally recognized stringent principles of corporate governance, control and compliance. The bank’s highly regarded human resources and training department provides first class competency development services to the bank’s large employee base.  For more information regarding Bank Mandiri, visit http://www.bankmandiri.co.id
