Knowledge Platform Awarded Innovation Grant for Schools Solution

The National Information and Communications Technology Research & Development Fund (National ICT R&D Fund), Pakistan’s leading technology innovation fund, has awarded an innovation grant to Knowledge Platform for an integrated K-12 learning solution.

Knowledge Platform’s integrated learning solution involves the design, development and deployment of multimedia learning content, assessments and learning pathways, learning games and activities, a learning management system, an adaptive assessment engine and a comprehensive teacher training and certification program.  At its lowest-cost and most basic level, the solution can be delivered to a school using a single laptop and projector, with each individual student’s performance being recorded through low-cost ‘clickers’ or student response devices.  At the same time, students and schools can also access the solution using the Internet. The solution involves the creation and tracking of individual learning pathways for each student as well as for each class as a whole.

Under the National ICT R&D Fund’s funded project, the solution will be piloted for 9th grade mathematics in urban, semi-urban and rural schools around the Islamabad Capital Territory.

“We went through a transparent yet rigorous review and contracting process with the National ICT R&D Fund and we are delighted and honored to be given this recognition and support by the National ICT R&D Fund,” notes Talhah Khan, the company’s CTO.  “The solution we are developing for Pakistan represents the aggregation of years and years of experience in developing innovative learning solutions for educational, corporate and government clients around the world.”

Mahboob Mahmood, the company’s Founder and CEO states: “We aim to transform education in Pakistan through the innovative blend of effective pedagogy, relevant technology and teacher training and support.  Moreover, we will drive adoption by creating a mobile interactive learning classroom that will tour the capital territory to enable students, teachers, administrators and parents to experience at first hand an innovative, results-oriented approach to learning mathematics. Pakistan has tremendous educational challenges, but the means are at hand to transform the educational landscape in Pakistan.”
