Knowledge Platform, Singapore’s leading knowledge solutions company, has secured a US$3M round of equity investment from OWW Capital Partners.
Established in 2000, Knowledge Platform quickly became a leader in Asia in both technology–intensive market research and e-learning content and technology. In 2011, Knowledge Platform sold its market research business to Forrester Research, and thereby enabled the expansion of Forrester into Asia. In 2012, Knowledge Platform sold its compliance e-learning business to Thomson Reuters, and thereby provided the platform for expansion of Thomson Reuters’ compliance learning solutions into Asia.
With the sale of these businesses, Knowledge Platform has been able to focus on deepening its learning management technology, designing content solutions for the educational sector, and developing innovative new blended learning formats. At the same time, Knowledge Platform has continued to support sixty major institutions and hundreds of thousands of learners across Asia with its learning management solutions.
In January 2014, Knowledge Platform’s new learning management technology won a gold medal for its adaptive learning engine and a silver medal for its social learning platform at the Brandon Hall Awards, making Knowledge Platform one of only three companies in Asia to have won two awards in a single year at the ‘oscars’ of e-learning. By September 2014, Knowledge Platform had successfully completed pilot programs of its educational learning solutions in China, Pakistan and Thailand.
Mahboob Mahmood, the founder and CEO of Knowledge Platform notes, “We are delighted and honored that OWW has invested in the next stage of our journey. We have deep experience in designing and implementing learning solutions across Asia and our four-part solution (strategy, content, technology, and support) resonates very strongly in this vast and dynamic continent. With OWW behind us, we expect to strengthen our leadership role in next-generation learning in both the educational and corporate sectors across Asia.”
Tan Bien Chuan, co-Founder and Managing Director of OWW, notes, “Knowledge Platform is no stranger to OWW as we had provided early growth capital to the company back in 2005. We have carefully tracked the progress of the company over the years and have great confidence in the management team, their strategic vision, and in their content, technology and support solutions. They have been leading the design and deployment of next-generation learning solutions in Brunei, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Thailand, and the UAE. Tapping into OWW’s ecosystem, Knowledge Platform have also entered into a JV with another OWW portfolio company, Hand Enterprise Solutions Co Ltd (300170:CH), to deploy its learning solutions in schools throughout China. The next ten years will see tremendous growth for e-learning and blended learning across Asia, and we fully expect Knowledge Platform to lead that growth.”
